Slide is basically an ornament that can be slid onto another piece of jewelry, typically a necklace. It is a jeweled fastener, which slides onto a chain or fabric ribbon.Where as a pendant is a bail or a loop on the back that allows the fashion jewelry to slide on a choker, chain, or cord. Slide and pendant are generally interchangeable.Slide is a more commonly used term in the world of jewelery.

Excellent description - I have always used the following...if it goes on over the clasp it is a slide - if it doesn't come off the chain it is a pendant.

But I yours is much more comprehensive.
