Diamonds come in a variety of colors like Black,Gray,White,Brown, Pink & Red, Orange,Yellow and Chameleons. These are all natural colors and not derived due to the treatment given to them. So do the other gemstones come in various colors. So how do we distinguish between these colored diamonds and the gemstones?

Refractive Index and Hardness are just two of the ways to tell a diamond from other colored gemstones.  The easiest is to use your common sense...if it is a beautiful, sparkly blue 8x6 mm stone it is more likely a topaz, sapphire or zircon. Unless of course you live next to a diamond mine!!!  LOL!

There are mainly two types of colored diamond
1)Natural Colored Diamonds-There are approximately 10,000 colorless diamonds found for every one colored diamond.

2)Synthetic Colored Diamonds-:Synthetic colored-diamonds are created using processes that mimic natural forces
