Professional Advice Needed

  I have Parrot Wing Jasper, Chrysacolla, Chrysoprase, Andamooka Opal, Blue Tiger Eye (Hawk-eye), Amethyst, Ametrine and Aquamarine cabs that are at the Pre-Polish stage.

I am in need of some tips for getting a good polish on material that is pretty porous!! I have heard that some folks use epoxy to fill and then polish?  I am not a big fan of Opticon - too stinky!  you can see my first attempt at:
